So this week I spent some time at home in good ole Winson-Salem..

While at home, I found this amazing silk maxi dress at goodwill for $5, which I decided could be worn so much more often if it were a skirt… I quickly cut it up, and voile, brand new gorgeous printed maxi skirt! Redesigning thrifted items is becoming one of my new favorite hobbies, I am even thinking of starting my own Etsy shop to sell one of a kind redesigned clothing items!

The colors in this maxi are fabulous- the neutral brown background is the perfect contrast for the bold blues, oranges, and reds.

I paired the maxi with a white silk burnout tank, which I got from Marshalls on clearance for $10!

The statement belt is also new to my wardrobe.. purchased from an awesome local consignment shop for $8

These Jessica Simpson leather strappy heels have been my go to sandals of the summer. They are so stylish, go with everything, and are surprisingly comfortable.

I am so pleased with the way this maxi skirt turned out, I can’t wait to get back down to Atlanta and whip up a couple more custom pieces on my sewing machine!

americas mart.

This past week I got the opportunity to be a temporary sales rep for one of the showrooms at the apparel mart in Atlanta, AmericasMart.

The Mart is HUGE and there are hundreds of showrooms showing womens apparel, shoes, accessories, and childrens clothing. I was in the Michael & Paula Hyman showroom on the 11th floor. They show brands such as Free People, Mink Pink, Spanx, Somedays Lovin’, Tulle, Miss Me, and a new brand, Wells Grace. I was in charge of fall, winter, and spring shipments of Tulle and Wells Grace.

Buyers from boutiques and stores all over the country came in to see the new lines and order what merchandise they want in their store. It was so awesome being able to see all these clothes before they are in stores and also being able to influence the buyers decisions!

Each day we got to wear something from one of the lines. Two of my favorites were this grey and white sweater from Wells Grace and this grey wrap jacket by Tulle!

If anyone is interested in being a temporary sales rep, the best thing to do is research a couple different showrooms at the Mart and e-mail the owners! They are always looking for extra help during market weeks.

Can’t wait till market in October!!

it’s been a while.

Gosh, I cannot believe I haven’t posted almost all summer?! Then again, I have been pretty busy trying to start my career in the fashion industry. This summer I interned at Nordstrom Phipps Plaza in was an interesting experience and I enjoyed it for the most part. One of the interns main projects was to create a couple posts for the Instagram page, @NordstromATL.

We used a couple of products from Nordstrom’s Anniversary sale to style a complete look.

Sam Edelman shoes
Rag & Bone jeans
Michael Kors bag
Trouve leather jacket & top
Ray Ban sunglasses

Styling this look was one of my favorite days of the internship! This look combines the relaxed style of boyfriend denim, with a neutral top and jacket. The bold. jeweled tone colored accessories complete the look.

camo & neon orange.

I’ve been looking for the perfect pair of camo pants recently, and finally found them (for a steal!) at the J. Crew outlet. These pants fit great, and the color is awesome. I feel like army green works as a neutral, so I paired them with the neon orange silk blouse. To balance out the bright colors in this outfit I went with a neutral brown lace up heel and simple gold jewelry.Image
